About Electronic Homework (EH)
By using computer, Electronic Homework (EH) simulates the errors which occur in students' exercises. Then assistance can be provided to the students and teachers.
Aims
The electronic homework has two advantages over the traditional homework. The first one is that, with electronic homework, tutoring will be immediately available whenever students encounter difficulties or make errors. This is quite impossible for most students doing traditional homework because not many of them can enjoy the assistance from human tutors. The second advantage is for the teachers. Teacher will no longer need to check the answers or mark the homework because these will be all done by the computer. They also do not have to worry about students just copying the homework from peers, because each homework disk can be individually coded so that copying disk can be easily detected.
Prospectives
In the long run, the system should be made in the form of a computer shell or an authoring system which contains only those architectures that enables the entering and storing the tutoring and subject knowledge. For each topic taught, teachers may just enter the rules taught, the possible mal-rules, and the problems to be solved by the students. The system can automatically arrange the problems, giving suggestions to students based on rules and mal-rules, and finally report on the students' achievements.
