This project aim at:
    1.  providing you a complete picture of what mangroves are, how they adapt to the special environmental stress. And more importantly, have an understanding of the ecological  and economical values of mangrove communities as well as what we can to to conserve the mangroves;
    2. giving you a chance to learn how to learn by the hints given by teachers from the web resources;
    3. develop an awareness in conserving our nature.

Actually, this WebQuest is only an example for you to start with. Hope you all will keep going on to learn how to learn, and how to conserve our nature.

Try to think: How will the villagers affect the
mangrovestand in Sai Keng?

Extension task:

In November 2004, the government announced a new nature conservation policy to regulate, to protect and to manage the natural resources that are important for the conservation of biological diversity of Hong Kong in a sustainable manner. Under this policy, 12 sites are listed for enhanced conservation by new conservation measures. Find out how much of these sites are mangrove stands and explain why these mangroves stands are chosen instead of other natural habitats like woodland?
